ColdFusion 8 Rocks!

ColdFusion 8 rocks and that is all I have been seeing and reading from the community. It seems am the only one left out (Duh!): I have been freaking busy. So busy that the Beta installer has been sitting on my test server and I have not even clicked on it once to install.

Once I’m through with my current assignments, there would be enough time to unleash the CF Dragon all over the place. I can’t wait to try out the new AJAX and PDF features to wow my colleagues and make their .NET codes look like a piece of wet and cold spaghetti.

Is this the way it will all end?

The get rich quick scheme is not native to Nigeria. Can we assume that the punishment for gullibility or greed would not skip the Nigerians that have thrown caution to the wind and want to reap where they haven’t sown. I don’t know and I don’t really care that much.

Just reading on BBC about the Ponzi scheme in Kenya and how some people have been cleaned out. Also, Central Bank of Nigeria just released a circular about the danger of the wonder banks but people are still pouring their hard earned money into this bottomless pits. I know some people will get paid but those who won’t will be the ones to suffer for this.

You can read the story here.

At last: The iPhone

I hate common phones and I don’t know why. May be being exclusive gives a little rush (akin to something speed ball throws at you). Having used an E70 for a year and looking for that cool phone that won’t be too common, Apple has finally come to the rescue with the sexy iPhone.

The iPhone was launched today with AT&T as an exclusive carrier (in US). By God’s grace, I should be able to lay my hands on one of these little wonders and by that, find something I can play with for another year.

Pennywise HYIB: The king of Absurdity

Just last week, some dudes came to my office to offer the ever enticing money doubling schemes. I don’t think am being fair in calling Pennywise money doubling or S’ogun D’ogoji because man, Pennywise is something else!
This is how it works. You give them a paltry N2,500 for a slot and over a period of 9 weeks, the scheme will pay out a cumulative of N251,390. Effectively, you multiply any amount you put inside by 100 in 9 weeks. Interesting!
What if I decide to invest just N250K back? Further still, or what happens if I decide to roll over my investment every 9 weeks for a period of 1 year?
With my MS Excel, this is what I get:

Week
Naira
Dollars
0
2,500.00
19.23
9
250,000.00
1,923.08
18
25,000,000.00
192,307.69
27
2,500,000,000.00
19,230,769.23
36
250,000,000,000.00
1,923,076,923.08
45
25,000,000,000,000.00
192,307,692,307.69
54
2,500,000,000,000,000.00
19,230,769,230,769.20

So with my humble N2,500 in January 1, I could, by second week of January the next year, be worth over $19 trillion, isn’t that wonderful?
Yeah, this is Pennywise!
